Arnhemland is the largest Aboriginal land reserve in Australia. In a class of its own, the multi-award-winning Arnhemland Barramundi Nature Lodge is situated near the community of Maningrida, approximately 300 km north-east of Darwin in Australia’s Northern Territory.
In a joint venture with the Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation, Alex Julius, one of Australia’s best known fishing identities, has created a lodge that offers an amazing remote area experience. It is the only operation in this region, with entry restricted to people holding permits issued by the Aboriginal traditional land owners.

The comfortable lodge is situated on an escarpment fringe overlooking the Liverpool and Tomkinson River Valleys. Deluxe en-suite cabins offer a taste of luxury in an otherwise remote and unspoiled environment. The main lodge includes an extensive dining and lounge area, and shaded deck with our “Barramundi Bar” overlooking the spectacular vista below.
Our professionally-guided fishing tours provide exclusive fishing access to six major river systems as well as fantastic bluewater areas where anglers can experience the best barramundi and bluewater fishing Australia has to offer. But there’s more than just the amazing fishing. We also offer fascinating Traditional Aboriginal culture and nature tours and a chance to experience the best bird-watching available in the whole of Australia. So no matter which activity you are interested in, the Arnhemland Barramundi Nature Lodge can organise a remote adventure itinerary to suit your needs. |
