Broken Bay has a lot to offer even though it is close to the urban pressures of Sydney and is quite heavily worked by commercial fishing operations. It is a very large area with diverse fisheries that undergo interesting seasonal variations.
A number of fishing guides work this area including some who specialise in fly fishing.
The estuary environments of the Hawksbury River and its tributaries, Brisbane Waters, and Pittwater feed into Broken Bay. These provide a diverse habitats, plenty of structure and a plethora of tactical opportunities for interesting fly fishing. |

The inshore scene is very exciting - dramatic islands and headlands within easy reach for small craft. West Head, Barrenjoey Head, Lion Island and Box Head are amongst the most productive spots in New South Wales for popular fly targets such as Aussie salmon, yellowtail kingfish, bonito and tailor.
Offshore has several good wrecks and reefs while out wide there are opportunities for yellowfin tuna, marlin and mako. |

Broken Bay can be accessed from numerous marinas and boat ramps in Pittwater, the Hawksbury, and Brisbane Waters. The region is on the northern outskirts of Sydney suburbs so it is an easy day trip for the visitor.
