Albany offers a great diversity of fishing - ranging from quiet sheltered waters and beaches to exposed ocean rock fishing, and offshore opportunities. Good estuary fishing can be had in the King River and Kalgan River for black bream, skippy (trevally), herring and mulloway.
There are numerous excellent land based rock and beach spots. (Some of the rock spots with deep water close in can be trecherous during heavy heavy swells.) Spots include Middleton Beach, Fisheries Beach, Salmon Holes & Misery Beach, Blow Holes, Cable Beach (The Gap), and Sand Patch (Windfarm. Princess Royal Harbour offers good sheltered fishing with boat ramps located at Princess Royal Sailing Club and Town Jetty.
Oyster Harbour 6 km from Albany, is another relatively sheltered location. Ofsshore fishing is varied and excellent. There are numerous reefs and islands - many anglers have there own secret snapper spots. Some of the better know spots are Belchers Reef, Pink snapper bank, Coral ground, Coral bank, Michaelmas Reef, and Breaksea Island. Breaksea has close in reef areas that are productive, and the general area has bonito, kingfish and tuna. |

Albany has a lot more to offer than fishing for the tourist. Spectacular scenery, white beaches, whale watching and diving are some of the attractions.
