Perth has the fantastic Swan River and good offshore fishing. The river is famous for it's black bream fishery however other prime flyfishing targets include mulloway, giant herring, and flathead.
The river can be readily accessed from public areas, roads and caprparks and there are several good boat ramps. Being a busy waterway in a large city the fishing tends to be better at dawn and dusk.
Tailor, australian salmon, and tommy ruff are the main targets. |

Excellent boat launching facilities are at Hillarys Boat Harbour to gain access to Hillarys, Sorrento and Trigg Island areas. Tailor are the prime target during summer, but a variety of other fish are possible including BIG samson fish.
Boat based fishing efforts are usually concentrated on patches of broken reef, or wrecks with many anglers having there favorite spots consisting of submerged lumps of reef located with depth sounders. |

Land based fishing is possible from most beaches, rock walls etc., but since the fishing pressure is very high it is usually necessary to fish very early or late making use of specific local knowledge for consistent success.
