Rod Harrison has caught the world’s great salt and freshwater fish on a fly rod. His mate and mentor Lefty Kreh has called him “an Australian national treasure” and “one of my two favourite writers”. High praise indeed from flyfishing’s greatest.
Harro, as Rod is widely and warmly known, has been on the paid advisory staffs of Sage and Rio, a rare distinction for a non-American. Thesedays he uses Temple Fork rods and Scientific Anglers lines and reels. His decade association with Bionic Braid, the distinctive Australian made dyneema reel backing he co-designed with the late Don McPherson, has seen it used in the majority of current IGFA world record marlin and barramundi captures on fly. |

Rod lives on Lake Awoonga, where he guides for trophy barra, teaches fishing and casting skills. This beautiful water is Australia’s premier big barra destination and has extensive visitor accommodation and facilities. His book about barramundi is the established authority.
When not guiding, engaged on bird study tours, or fishing himself, Rod can be found out on the lake tapping away on his laptop. He has several other books to his credit and has been published in a number of languages. He is currently working on a sweeping, character filled novel set in an Australia he knows so well. |
