Byron Bay is a great destination for tourists with it's somewhat "hippy" culture, excellent surfing and organic lifestyle.  Rock and surf fishing is good, as is estuary fishing in the nearby Brunswick River.

Offshore fishing in this region is excellent.  Offshore hotspots include Julian Rocks and Juan Rocks but note that marine reserve restrictions apply so check out the Marine Parks website http://www.mpa.nsw.gov.au/cbmp.html.

To the south of Byron Bay are Tallow Beach and Lennox Head.  Lennox Head has the famous land based game platform known as "The Ledge".  Good general offshore fishing is available not too far out from Lennox Head with Byron generally having year-round action.

Boat launch facilities are good at Brunswick Heads and Lennox Head.
